National Health Services Federal Health Minister Aamer Mehmood Kiani said that health was one of the top priorities of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government.
While speaking at “Health Fest” which was organised by the Hashoo Foundation on Friday, minister Kiani said that the ruling party was concerned about prevailing health issues in the country. He added that healthcare indicators had been on the decline since decades because the important subject of health had not been prioritised. “The PTI government is committed to the cause of improving health and nutritional status of the public,” remarked Kiani.
Federal Health Minister Aamer Mehmood Kiani said that health was top priority of the government and major improvements in this critical area would be visible soon. He informed the gathering that he had written to the finance ministry to enhance taxation on tobacco products and sugary drinks. He explained that proceeds from these taxes would be utilised in bringing improvement in the healthcare sector.
Speaking about the health ministry, he said that several health organisations and facilities parked in a number of ministries had all been assigned to his ministry. He promised that the residents of Islamabad would witness a tangible improvement in the healthcare facilities being provided in the capital.
Hashoo Group’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) vice president Ayesha Khan also addressed the gathering on the occasion. She said that human capital was the most critical factor in development and stability of a nation state. She added and education and health were the twin factors that determined the status of human capital in any economy. “We have organised this festival to proactively and positively promote quality and inclusive healthcare,” she said, adding that Hashoo Group was determined to use what it learnt in thirty years of its experience in order to be more impactful.
