Japan on Wednesday supported Pakistan in its efforts for peace in Afghanistan through political reconciliation, according to a press statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the GHQ. During the meeting matters of mutual interest including bilateral security cooperation and overall regional situation were discussed. “The worthy guest fully supported for the peace in Afghanistan through political reconciliation,” the statement said. Separately, renowned educationist Syed Azhar Hussain Abidi called on the chief of army staff at the GHQ. According to the ISPR, the COAS appreciated the services rendered by Abidi for promotion of education in the country. According to the ISPR, Abidi has provided counseling and assisted more than 15,000 Pakistani students, including wards of martyrs, for their studies abroad on full or partial scholarships over the last two decades.
